Figures reveal council spending on older people varies dramatically across Wales
The BBC has obtained figures which show that the amount councils spend on social services for older people can vary by as much as £3,000 per person in different authorities.
A survey of 14 local authorities, based on information obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, compared how much each authority spent on delivering older people's services and how many people they help.
The BBC said that the results do not include health spending - some councils provide services for older people that are provided by the NHS in other areas.
The story comes as an alliance of national voluntary organisations working with older people hold a conference today [June 13] in Cardiff called Wales: A Good Place to Grow Old? at which they are calling on policy makers, health professionals and local government officials to work together to ensure that Wales is a good place for people to grow old in.
The Welsh Government said it would work with a range of partners on the issue.
